Discover the Atlantic Ocean with some Open Water Swimming

When I first moved to Lanzarote, surf was the reason I went into the ocean, after all it’s what bought us here in the first place. However in recent years I’ve been open water swimming as both a a fitness practice but also its a very mediative practice that helps with all sorts of mental wellbeing.

Open water swimming of late has become quite trendy however, its not something new to Lanzarote. We have some wonderful places to immerse yourself and the world famous Iron Man competition happens here every May with hundreds of competitors taking to the waters of the south coast. The early morning start is quite something to to see.

If you haven’t tried open water swimming I’d very much recommend having a go. If you want some advice and guidance we have a great friend Paul who owns and runs Lavaflow Surf School who aside from teaching people to surf he also teaches Beach Lifeguard courses and open water swim coaching.

Paul provide group swim sessions every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings 09:00 – 10:00, as well as weekly pool sessions or can arrange private swim sessions and also advanced video analysis.
