Introduction
The Hawaii of Europe awaits - world class waves, warm water and a ton of swell...
Surfing sports are now deeply rooted in Canarian culture and the islands are on the list of most international surfers as a 'must visit' destination, in particular Lanzarote.
Situated in the Atlantic, 95km off the West African coast, the West coast of Lanzarote is exposed to all swells and the bigger W and NW swells wrap down the east coast, as well as around the South coast on occasion. This provides a massive swell window, multiple wind direction options and, with a 25min drive between coasts, perfection is never far away whether you're a surfer, windsurfer or kiter.
Home to the annual Surfing World Qualifying Series (WQS) and Windsurfing World Championships, Lanzarote is a playground for those who live to surf.
