Super September

Check in to celebrate why September is super...

Fiesta Los Doloris

September is a special time here in Lanzarote. Alongside the striking volcanic scenery, unspoilt villages, vineyards and miles of golden beaches, September is a time of celebration with the annual Romeria Virgen de los Dolores, the largest traditional fiesta on the island. Island residents and visitors - many with a donkey, camel and a goat or two in tow, pulling carts laden with "fortifying refreshments" - don their traditional dress and make the annual "Romeria" or pilgrimage on foot to Mancha Blanca. Up to 60,000 people will participate, it's some sight.

Guest Wines

To celebrate, Finca Malvasia has a few special additions for the month of September for guests to enjoy. We've selected a couple of 'Guest Wines' in addition to the Los Bermejos selection. White comes courtesy of Finca Malvasia neighbour, Bodega Vega De Yuco who produce a light, crisp lime tinged dry white, perfect for sipping in the sunshine. Red comes from Cadiz, further afield in mainland Spain from where Lanzarote resident, Jorge De La Cueva produces a small amount of silky smooth red packed full of flavour. You choose which one you want as your complimentary bottle on arrival and more is available to purchase if required.

Tasting board

To accompany your wine choice we're also offering a taster of canarian gastronomy with a sharing board, a small selection of delights for you to enjoy on arrival. Locally smoked salmon from Uga, fresh goats cheese and olives will help you settle in to the slower pace of life here in Lanzarote.

Tapas Trail

As well as the exclusive Finca Malvasia Guide packed full of our personal recomendations, for those wishing to get out and about and experience the Gastro side of Canarian culture, we're launching our Finca Malvasia Tapas Trail. A handy map of the best tapas eateries on the Island. Chosen for their great food and beautiful historic surroundings, the trail ensures you experience why we fell in love with Lanzarote.

Wine Walk

For the really energentic, we've also got the 2.5 hours Wine Walk through the La Geria wine region with our experienced guide David. Starting at the finca wind your way through amazing countryside vineyards, lava flows, volcanic peaks over looking the national park and finish off with a wine tasting at the beautifully restored yet contemporary Bodega Stratvs.

We LOVE September, it's our personal favourite month on the island. Great weather, balmy evenings, warm seas, super sunsets, alfresco dinining, picnics, start of surf season, fresh figs, crowd free beaches, fabulous gastronomy - the list is endless!

If any of this takes your fancy, drop us an email, give us a call or book online at www.fincamalvasia.com

Don't just take our word for it.

"In unspoilt Lanzarote, set in the foothils of the beautiful Timanfaya Fire Mountains, this large working vineyard - with its four villas - is a hidden gem. The lagoon-like pool is surrounded by fig trees, and your bougainvillea clad private terrace is only a couple of steps away. Weary souls can collapse into one of the hammocks dotted about, take a yoga class or simply go walking in the untamed countryside." Harpers Bazaar, April 2011
